[RP] Baptism of Lynna and Tosher

The sun was just reaching its zenith when Leana opened the doors of the church and peered down the lane. She could see two figures approaching in the distance, but the glare from the sun made it difficult to tell who was headed toward the church. She said a silent prayer to Jah and went back to the front of the church to wait for Lynna and Tosher. She smoothed a wrinkle in her dress and tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear. Taking a deep breath, she inhaled the late summer air, detecting the faint scent of honeysuckle and old incense mixed within.

Tosher walks towards the Church, seeing Leanasidhe fling the doors open he slows his pace.
Feeling nervous enough going into a house of Jah he decides to wait for Lynna so they can enter together.

Turning onto the lane, Lynna sees Tosher a little ahead making his way to the quaint little Church, He had looked her way so knew she wasn't far behind. Hastening her pace, not too noticeably, to catch up knowing that today Tosher is also to be Baptised.

When near enough, in a little louder than normal voice, wanting Tosher to know she was right behind him, Lynna speaks. Tosher!! as Tosher turns in her direction Lynna smiles, Ohh, I am so glad I caught up to you before I got to the Church, I am so nervous but excited at the same time. I had noticed you slowed a little, thank you for waiting for me.
Taking a deep breath Lynna continues, Do you think we should head inside? You don't think we are too early do you? Nerves again taking over as she blurts out more questions, while walking up the little path leading to the wide opened doors of the Church

Approaching the front of the Church , Lynna notices Deaconess Leana just inside the doors, before Tosher even gets a chance to answer her questions, beaming she greets, Good morning Deaconess Leana, what a wonderful day it is today. Smiling at Tosher as the words just keep coming from her mouth.

Leana smiled at Lynna, who looked a bit flustered in her excitement, and gestured for her to sit down. As Lynna stepped into the pew, Leana noticed Tosher standing slightly behind her and she motioned that he sit down as well. Since this was to be a relatively informal baptism because there was no one else in the church, she wanted them to feel at ease. Once they had settled in, she cleared her throat and spoke.

"Greetings, Lynna and Tosher, and welcome. Both of you are on the beginning of the road to purification, on the path of freedom from a purely material vision of the world, and on the threshold of infinite access to the world of Ideas. This path will lead you to Paradise."

She paused to let the words sink in and then asked, "Do you swear allegiance to the Aristotelian Church?"

Lynna gratefully takes a seat in the pew, nervously clasping her hands together bowing her head for a moment in a silent prayer
Sensing now, Tosher taking his seat next to her, Lynna looks up to the Deaconess, listening, as her gentle voice carries a question.
"Do you swear allegiance to the Aristotelian Church?"
Without hesitation Lynna replies

Yes. I do.

Tosher looks up at Leanasidhe while trying to decide where to put his hat, fingering it in his hands he decides to put it under the pew hoping the mice won't get at it.

'Yes, I swear allegiance to the Aristotelian Church'.

After the two answer, Leana asks them to recite the Creed.

Tosher recites the Creed,

THE ARISTOTELIAN CREED

I believe in God, most powerful, most high,
Creator of the Sky and the Earth,
and of Heaven and Hell,
Judge of our hearts at the hour of death.

And in Aristotle, His prophet,
the son of Nicomaque and Phaetis,
sent among us to teach wisdom
and the divine laws of the Universe
to we who knew not.

I also believe in Christos,
Born of Mary and Joseph.
He dedicated His life to show us the ways of Heaven.
Thus, after having suffered under Ponce the Procurator,
He died in martyrdom to save us all.
He joined the Sun where Aristotle also was,
at the right-hand side of the most high.

I believe in the Divine Action;
In the Holy Universal Roman Aristotelian Church;
In the communion of the Saints;
In the remission of sin,
In Eternal Life.

AMEN

As Deaconess Leana stands before us smiling as we answer, we are then asked to recite the Creed

Lynna glances briefly at Tosher to take his cue and in unison recites

I believe in God, the all powerful Father,
Creator of the Sky and the Earth,
Hell and Paradise,
Judge of our heart until the hour of death.

And in Aristotle, the prophet,
The son of Nicomaque and Phaetis,
Sent to teach wisdom
And the divine laws of the Universe to straying men.

I also believe in Christ,
Son of Mary and Joseph.
Who dedicated His life to show us the way to Paradise.
Thus after He suffered under Pilate,
He died as a martyr to save us.
He joined the Sun where Aristotle waited on the right-hand side of the Father.

I believe in Divine Action;
In the Holy Roman Aristotelian Church;
In the communion of Saints;
In the remission of sins;
In Eternal Life.

Amen.

Proud of herself for remembering every word of her readings, Lynna's eyes meet with the Deaconess's as she continues with the rest of the ceremony

After Lynna's recitation ends and the church becomes silent again, Leanna steps forward and puts her hands on Lynna's head, whispers, then extends her hand to help her stand up. She then repeats the process for Tosher. "Go in peace. You are now in the family of Aristotle."

She smiles at both of them and gives them a hug.

Lynna closes her eyes as Deaconess Leana lays her hands on her head, after hearing a whisper of words, and a feeling of calm, she opens her eyes and takes the Deaconess's hand as she helps her stand.

While hugging the Deaconess back, she whispers in her ear, Thank you so much for today.

Smiling Lynna watches the Deaconess as she moves to Tosher completing the Ceremony she waits a minute
