Snickering, she nodded. She knew the guard had looked familiar, it was because of the incident earlier when he'd searched Donnor with such zeal. She still couldn't remember actually picking his pocket, but her throbbing wrist and shoulder both confirmed the incident had occurred. She started to look up as he rose, but luckily actually remembered what happened last time she'd done that. She was already on her bum, but there was no reason to take chances.

Staring at his legs instead, she confessed; Ya knows...them guards is odd...they searched ya, but not me. Harlan said bestest mens don't carry daggers...but Jas does...an' she... here she couldn't help but look up, despite the risk. ...she figured I'd be needin' protecti'n from the likes of you... Of course, the moment she looked up he went down, straight into a pile of snow. Giggling uncontrollably, she managed to get out; Nothin' like trippin' over yer own feets...least I gots a dress to blame...

Donnor wrote:”Now you can’t be blaming your clumsiness on the dress.” He said as he struggled to get back up, cold and wet from the snow. While he was getting up, he listened to her. He wondered why she would need protection from people like him. He snickered as he was finally on his feet and shook the snow off his back and arms. He started walking back up the steps and leaned down to Aasha’s eye level.

”You need protection from yourself.” He teased. Standing upright once more he began to make his way back inside. Before going in he turns, ”I will be right back, there is something I have to tell you, trust me it is going to be great” He says with a wicked grin.

She could and had blamed the clumsiness on the dress, and lack of grace in one, but the real culprit this time was his infernal drink. She was getting cold just sitting on the steps, and had finally decided to move when he leaned down. Frowning and doing her best to focus on one of the many eyes in front of her, she pushed him back slightly and teased; Bubble...'member...

Watching him as he disappeared inside, her curiosity was piqued. - What could he possibly tell her that would be great? That she didn't look like a booger after all? - Pushing it to the back of her mind, she stood up slowly and rubbed her arms, wincing at the twinge in her shoulder and wrist. She had to move or she'd be frozen before he came back. Carefully making her way down the remaining steps, she began to drunkenly pace, sobering just slightly as the cold took her breath.

Donnor wrote:He almost fell back when she pushed on him, teasing. He could feel the warmth of her hands on his shoulders as it seemed to warm him. For a moment it was though she was flirting with him. He wanted to brush the idea off but for some reason could not get it out of his mind as he went inside. Perhaps she didn’t realize it, or maybe he was just seeing something that just was not there.

Once inside the hall again his eyes scanned the crowd, his vision had gotten more blurry than he thought. He staggered as he made his way towards the bar, all he had to do is time it right. As soon as the bartender turned his back he swiped a closed bottle from the shelf and walked away quickly. A smile appeared on his face as he made his way through the crowd and out the door, tipping his hat to the frisky guard covered in medals.

Once he was back outside he noticed Aasha had been up and pacing back and forth. Placing his hand gently on her shoulder to get her attention, he handed the bottle off to her.
”Here you go, I hope this will do because it is the only thing I managed to grab from the bar.”

He took a step back and watched her, the way her dress moved as she walked, yes it was to big but it still caught his attention. ”It is amazing that after everything you have been through tonight, your dress still looks good on y...” He covered his mouth before he could finish what he was saying and looked away.

He had gotten a lot of surprises for one night and they still had the plan he thought up, just a little gift to everyone for no reason at all. He smiles as he turns his attention back to Aasha. ”So are we going to open that bottle up or what booger?”

All she could think of was the cold. The blurred vision was forgotten, the slight dizziness...everything took a back seat to her chilled skin. Glancing towards the door for probably the tenth time, she sighed, then resumed her pacing.

When a hand alighted on her shoulder, she spun around, wishing she'd moved the dagger out of her boot. It wasn't too bright, being outside alone unarmed, yet here she was. The touch was gentle though, not someone who was meaning her harm. Much to her relief, it was Donnor, with a full bottle in his hand. Glad she'd not disgraced herself by falling, she tilted her chin up and smiled. Anythin' that will warm me...why was we comin' out fer air?

As she took the bottle and struggled to open it, she bit her lip between her teeth. He wasn't helping at all, in fact had gone noticably quiet, along with most everything else outside. His deep voice broke the silence, with an unexpected remark. - Was he complimenting her? - She was so shocked, she bit her lip harder than she'd intended and let out a little yelp of pain.

Donnor, is ya feelin' alright? Yer lookin' odd... Even more confused when he covered his mouth then turned, she wondered what she'd missed, and stepped closer. Lord Bratley? Placing her hand on his back right as he turns, her fingers end up resting on his chest instead. Shivering as their eyes met, she felt heat climb unexpectedly to her face.

Wordlessly handing him the bottle, she dropped her hand and wobbled back a step, clearing her throat nervously as she whispered; this dress lookin' good on me was what ya had to tells me?

Donnor wrote:It was starting to get colder the longer they stood there, yet when her hand landed on his chest he felt warm throughout his body. He glanced down at them, small and fragile looking against him. Raising his eyes he is surprised to meet with hers, for a moment he stands there just staring into her eyes unable to break away from her gaze. His heart started pounding in his chest as he tried to figure out exactly what was going on. He wanted to speak but he could not seem to move.

Finally, she handed him the bottle and removed her hand. She spoke but in a whisper so quiet he could barely hear what she was saying. He opened the bottle as he tried to figure out what he should say. Obviously she had heard what he said so there was no point in trying to convince her otherwise. Still watching her eyes, he leaned his head back and took a long drink from the bottle before handing it to her. The liquid burned the whole way down and caused his face to grow hot.

”I will be fine, I am just making something out of nothing in my mind and it is…just don’t worry, I will be fine.” He sighs, wondering if he should tell her that her dress really does look good one her. He didn’t know how she would react to it but most people do not mind a compliment. ”Yes, your dress does look good…on you of course. Now I would like to tell you of a plan I thought up while at the bar, but I will wait until you are ready. I think it should be a very funny trick to play if you would like to help me with it.” A devious grin spreads across his face as he waits for her response.

She couldn't quite place why she felt so nervous, and had no clue why while the rest of her was freezing, her face was aflame. Their eyes locked for what felt like forever, her emerald ones trying to read past her confusion to figure out what was going on. Her own step back had broken the spell, but her eyes were still trapped, even after he broke the seal and tilted the bottle back to drink.

Awareness heightened, she watched the muscle in his throat as he swallowed, followed the redness as it creeped from there up into his face. There was something seriously wrong with her, and obviously him as well, this could not be a normal reaction to a chance remark. Perhaps it was the mushrooms causing more hallucinations, because nothing was making sense.

Her brow furrowed as she murmured; it is...what? She couldn't help but worry, there was no way his drink had taken the same effect on him as it had her, they'd consumed the same amount and he was much larger than her. Trying to find a grip on reality, she took the bottle from him and tilted it up, pushing back the image of his lips and throat working as he'd swallowed. Coughing slightly as it burned its way down, she blushed as he repeated his earlier compliment. He'd been calling her a booger, and now telling her it looked good? Had she stepped into an alternate reality?

She felt as if she were drowning, swimming in a sea of emotions that deepened her confusion. Grasping onto the word plan like a lifeline, she spoke huskily; I'm ready now...whats yer plan?

Donnor wrote:He offers his arm to her and escorts her to the stables. ”While I was in there sitting at the bar I came up with this simply brilliant idea, just a way to give everyone a wonderful gift from us.” He brushes her hair back behind her ear gently with his fingers. Her skin is softer than he had thought and for just a moment he is distracted, he leans his face in and his lips gently brush against her cheek as he moves them towards her ear. For a moment he gets the urge to kiss her cheek, just to feel her skin against his own.

Stopping himself, he moves on to her ear to whisper his diabolical plan to her. Once he had finished laying out his plan he pulls back and with a wicked grin pulls the large flask from inside his jacket and holds it out to her.
”So what do say? Do you want to or not?”

Glad of his support as she begins to stagger, she's surpised when they make it to the stables without falling again. It was still freezing, but the heat from his body was helping more than she expected. As he bent to whisper, she tilted her head, extremely curious. Shivering as his fingers brush her hair back, she tells herself its from the cold air while heat travels to her face.

The feel of his lips brushing skin causes her to catch her breath. The sensation was unexpected, and confusing, to say the least. She couldn't breathe at all, the stables narrowed and almost disappeared completely before he ever made it to her ear. Taking a shaky breath only as she begins to concentrate on his plan rather than his warm breath on her ear, her eyes widen and a huge grin splits her face.

Warmth lost as he steps back, she nods and takes the flask. Before she can move at all, she hears a soft nicker. Most of 'em are here too... Moving unsteadily through the barn, she makes it to the trough and steadies herself on the wall. Glancing back, she easily picks his shape in the dark and smiles, then stands straight and uncaps the flask. Upending the liquor, she wrinkles her nose at the noxious smell and watches as it splashes into the water. She makes sure to push her sleeve up, then bend a bit and swishes her hand in, to mix it better. Almost falling in as she does, she throws her hands out to balance on the wall, breathing heavily at her near dunking.

Once she is sure she is steady, she carefully makes her way back, unlatching stalls as she does, then whispers; I'm thinkin' I should be goin' home now...too many falls in one night...

Donnor wrote:He grinned as he watched the liquid pour into the horse’s trough. The sound of the liquid splashing in their water was like music to his ears at that moment. He notices that it looks like she is getting ready to fall into the water and just as he gets ready to run over she steadies herself. He let’s out a sigh of relief as he turns to look towards the stable doors to make sure no one was coming. Seeing no one, he turns back just as she is making her way back to him saying that she was ready to go home. ”Alright, we will go get my horse.” Quickly, they close the doors to the stables and head over to the tree he tied Midnight to. Something seemed off about midnight, Donnor noticed her swaying slightly. It was then he remembered someone at the bar grabbing a bottle and taking it outside after seeing him giving Pea a dish of whiskey. Searching the ground near the horse he spotted the bottle which was now empty.

”Well Aasha, Midnight seems to have enjoyed the party as much as we have.” He turned to look at her and noticed she had been shivering. He removed his jacket and wrapped it around her. ”I am going to pick you up and place you on her back, she should be okay to get you home.” He scoops her up in his arms and is getting ready to put her on the horses back when he stops and looks at her. His eyes’ locking onto hers like they had before and it wasn’t long before he got a strange feeling in the pit of his stomach. He could not stop looking at her, the way her eyes shined in the moon light.

”Aasha, I have had a great time with you tonight. I will not forget this night for as long as I shall live and I think…” He interrupted himself wondering what he was doing. Did he really feel something for her? He tried to think back to all the times they had argued with each other in the taverns. Their arguments always seemed to be silly and never all that serious to him, could it really be that this all started then and tonight just made these feelings surface at last. ”Never mind, let’s get you home ok?”

A Surprise Encounter - Page 3 Empty Re: A Surprise Encounter

Post  Aasha Mon Mar 23, 2009 12:05 am

Still trying to dismiss the unexpected sensation he'd aroused with his touch, she meant to follow him out, but her unsteady gait convinced her she'd need his help. Placing a hand on his arm for balance, they made their way through the stables and into the night. She was just out of sorts enough that she almost missed seeing Midnight until she was directly in front of her. Casting an appreciative eye over the mare, she smiled up at Donnor before noticing the horse was swaying almost as much as she was. But how? She wasn't in the barn, and they'd just dumped the contents of the flask, there was no way it could be from their doing.

Donnor's comment made her giggle. Ain't sure a drunk horse is much of a way of gettin' home... With no building to cut the chill, she began to shiver, inwardly cursing her attire again. She hated dresses, there was little warmth provided when the skirts billowed around her feet. As he placed his jacket around her, she shivered again, an uneasy fluttering confusing her further. She could smell his scent on the jacket, a heady mixture of wilderness and whiskey, all male and very distracting.

Shaking her head, she frowned to herself. - What is wrong with you girl? Have you gone daft? Never, ever drink any concoction he comes up with again! - It was then he scooped her up, adding his own body warmth to her already dazed bemusement. Drawn to his face, her eyes locked with his, widening briefly as a flickering of awareness rushed in. I...I had a great time too...'cept fer the landin' on my bum sos often... The only fall she could recall at that moment was not one of landing on her bum. Each detail ran through her mind, a slow moving picture of him falling backwards, her landing sprawled against him, their lips unintentionally pressed together.

Her face was flushed again, she'd lost the will to speak and clung when he finally deposited her on the horse's back, burying her face in Midnight's mane in a vain attempt to replace the scents burning through her senses. The girl, man and horse disappeared from view, swallowed up in the night with no one the wiser.
