Re: Wooly Winter Festival Sheep Race

[Aasha]

No other sheep coming forward to join the race, Mrs. Pettigrew shouts:

'Clear the racetrack everyone!'

She holds a ball of white wool high up in the air.

'Ready?'

She lets the ball of wool drop and as it hits the ground shouts:

'GO!'

[Aasha]

Desi hears the shout, and lets Morag go... with a bound, the ewe is off and running!

[Aasha]

A little distracted, Eidur doesn't realise that the race has begun and only starts moving when he notices Morag has already left.

[Aasha]

Tenshi laughs and claps her hands, cheering for the sheep. She didn't bet at all on any of the sheep, but she was still excited to watch them go. She idly wishes again that she brought her sheep with her to race, but chuckles at the owners that did enter their sheep. Pump those skinny little legs! GO GO GO!!!! Come on! You can do it you can do it!!

[Aasha]

Bobby had been held up at the starting line. As soon as Bobby noticed the ewe beside him, it seemed his knees trembled in fear... or perhaps love..? Either way, poor Bobby was dazed for a moment when Morag and Eidur shot out into the race.

Snickering to herself, she urges Bobby to run... "GO GET HER BOBBY!!!!"

Bobby sprinted with his skinny, yet strong legs. He looked like a big mass of marshmallow, bouncing like sugary sweetness through the race. Still, he was lengths behind the two other sheep. Here, Timari had to spurn Bobby to run faster.

"FASTER BOBBY! KERRI'S GOT A KNIFE! RUNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!"

[Aasha]

Craning her neck to see the sheep start their race Manerta laughs as they start bobbing along the racetrack. Two are clear in the lead until Timari shouts something to her sheep. Manerta can't understand the encouragement but apparently Bobby can, because he suddenly bursts into a sprint. Not sure which sheep she is cheering for, Manerta joins in in the cries of 'Go!' and 'Run!' as the sheep start nearing the first curve in the track.

Morag, sensing the curve, heads inwards to try and get the racing line...

[Aasha]

Eidur was running his typical race, allowing Morag to lead but pushing her just fast enough to open a gap with the other sheep behind. Zogdor knew that his sprint finish was enough to leave any other sheep in the land behind. Confident that the race was all but in the bag, Zogdor made his way to the winner's enclosure with only one doubt on his mind "Keep your eye on the prize Eidur, eye on the prize" he said under his breath.

[Aasha]

Morag can feel Eidur behind her, it seems... she rolls her eyes and starts to sprint again, into the strait.

[Aasha]

Mrs. Pettigrew is following the sheep's progress with interest that is quickly turning to excitement. She's not in favour of gambling and would never bet herself, but now that the sheep are racing at an incredible tempo along the straight part of the course she can understand better how other people are attracted to races. Which sheep will win? Morag is in the lead with Eidur following on her heels and Bobby gaining distance quickly. Morag seems in good form, will she let Eidur overtake her? Will Bobby manage to close the gap?

[Aasha]

Zogdor notices that Eidur has still not gained enough ground on Morag as they turn the bend, in fact if anything, he's let her get away from him. Very uncharacteristic of him, so Zogdor decided that it was time to pull out the special weapon, he moved closer to the finishing line, as he was not far from it and he quickly changed clothes.

Then shouting quickly he tried to urge Eidur on. "Come on Eidur, hurry, not far to go now, I'm here to support you now"

[Aasha]

Bobby went whooshing like a flying arrow, his white wool blowing fast as he ran. With her screams encouraging him forward, it seems Bobby was pushing and pushing, as if he were running for his life.


His gallops climbed close to Eidur, Bobby was started to be a force in this race. With the turns, Bobby swiftly shifted directions; running faster than you could utter the word... "Baa". Zogdor had donned a sheepy outfit, hopefully it would distract Eidur enough to get Bobby running past him.

"Focus Bobby! She's coming for you! Run!!!!"

Refusing to be outdone by Sir Zogdor, Timari takes out some wool, waving them around like pompoms. She stuffs some wool in her pants, the fluffiness spilling out of her behind. Here, she chanted Bobby's favorite song!

"Tim, Just and Chardy, and Robby too
Bridgewater people join the crew
Bob and the gang have so much fun
Here for each other, they get the race done

BOB THE SHEEPY!!!!!!
CAN HE RACE IT???
BOB THE SHEEPY!!!!!!
YES HE CAN!!!!!!!"

Screaming it out, she hoped her gang was somewhere here to dance and sing with her. Anyway, she struts her stuff, wiggly and dancing for the beautiful Bobby!!!

[Aasha]

Eidur doesn't seem to know where to look, his master is dressed in full sheep evening dress and the beautiful lady Timari is dancing and wiggling about, his eyes dart from side to side and before he knows out, Bobby is overtaking him and heading close towards Morag.

Distraught at how he'd let such happenings distract him, Eidur lets out a loud warrior cry, just like one that may be heard coming from Baaaazan king of the meadow.

"Baaahahahahhaha"

He races along hoping that he can catch up once again with Bobby, he manages to close up just behind him as he pulls alongside Morag and the race for the finish is on



He was just about to join the other two, when something caught his eye and he turned his head to look, taking his eye off the end for just one second, it seemed as though some of the other sheep had decided to join in with TImari's cheerleading group, including, to great shock and disbelief, Bjork!

[Aasha]

Desi looks to one side, and wonders if there is something in sheep dip that turns all sheep owners mad.... turning to the race she sees that Eidur is catching up...

"Morag!!!! RUNNNNNN!!!!!"

[Aasha]

Shaking her head at poor Desi, the girl has not reached the full level of sheepyness yet. Poor girl needed to unlock the inner sheepy in her, otherwise Eidur would not have the willpower to win. Perhaps this would be to Bobby's advantage, Timari thought with a grin.

She watched on, waving her wool crazily. Channeling the sheep spirit within her, she scream-chants on. A sheep had come, seeming to dance with her too, its behind bouncing around with the beat of the song.

"BOB THE SHEEPY!!!!
CAN HE RACE IT???
BOB THE SHEEPY!!!!
YES HE CAN!!!"

Timari watches as the hopeful Bobby runs like mad. The chanting was like a pushing drone, to run faster, leap further, endure longer. Sweet little Bobby was an explosion of speed; his big brown eyes fixed on Morag. Screw that man sheep, Bobby wanted Morag. Fueled by the a chanting Timi, threats of a chasing Aunty, and most importantly, the gorgeous ewe ahead... Bobby found invincible sheepy strength and speed. He cuts through the air, racing with a fiery passion.

[Aasha]

Alexandra walks through the croud to the edge of the race track, she wants to cheer for her fav, BOBBY...

Such a stregth, such a speed, so tinny but powerfull legs...

COME ON BOBBY!!!! You are the fav, don't let us down, whole Somerset is with you...

Alex cheer with all her strength and thinks to bring little bobby to Bath for a better flock and a new generation of wooly runners..

[Aasha]

Chardonnay move closer to the finish line, one of her finest ewes at her heels. Her ewe, seeing Bobby so close to the front of the pack, gets excited, and starts jumping up and down to encourage him


GO BOBBY GO!

[Aasha]

As the sheep near the finish, Mrs. Pettigrew gets into position. She ignores all the hullaballo going on around her (someone in a funny sheep costume, bobbling balls of wool, chants, more sheep, spectators cheering) and does not take her eyes off the finishing line. And here they come!

First across the line is Bobby, still sprinting full out. Fueled by the cheers he has not only caught up with Morag but overshot her.

Then, just barely half a length after, Morag races across the line, looking as if she could easily go on forever in that tempo (she might need a bit of sprint-training).

But where is Eidur? Ah here he comes, he is still following Morag but is looking a bit confused, it seems something or someone has distracted him on the last few metres so he is nearly a lenght behind at the finish.

'Bravo, well done! Bobby won the race, with Morag second and Eidur third.'

Mrs. Pettigrew shouts when the first wave of cheers has passed and gestures for Timari to bring the winning sheep over. She pats Bobby on the head and then fixes the winner's rosette with a ribbon round his head.



'Congratulations Lady Timari and Bobby! And thanks to all entrants, this was a great race!'

Turning round to see the servers waiting carrying trays laden with ale mugs and other beverages, Mrs. Pettigrew continues.

'Ah I see the refreshment is ready, I think both we and the sheep need it. Well I mean the sheep need some other refreshment than ale of course, there is water and lots of carrots for them.'

[Aasha]

Seeing Eidur come in last, Zogdor hangs his head in his hands. He knows that as an out and out sprinter Eidur should've won, but the competition is not all about being faster, it's about the all-round game - who wants it more and it would seem that today Eidur lacked discipline and Bobby showed more hunger.

He gave Eidur a reassuring hug, although disappointed, he realised that there'd be another race and Eidur would learn from this experience to ensure that he doesn't repeat the same mistake again.

He walked over to Timari and shook her hand. Congratulations, it would seem that the best sheep won. You can be proud of your Bobby, he has proved himself to be a worthwhile winner. At first he may have let his disappointment show, but after looking into Timari's eyes and seeing her joy, he relaxed and winked to show that there were no hard feelings.

Walking away with Eidur still lagging behind, Zogdor could even be heard singing...

"Bob the Sheepy....."

[Aasha]

Desi tosses Zog a bunch of carrots, and attends to her tired sheep.

"He's too fond of watching the lady sheep, that lad of yours. Maybe in a rams only race he'd win easily..."

She gives Morag a bunch of carrots and sits down to watch her tuck in.

"Mmmm... aroma of sweaty sheep. I think these two need a dip".

[Aasha]

It was a romantic tale of victory for Bobby.

He had set his sweet, brown eyes on the fair sheepy Morag when Chardy's ewe was seen at the finish line. The ewe was so soft, and fluffly... as it jumped beautifully in the air, it was a magical moment. Here then forgetting about Morag, Bobby shot past, over the finish line. The victor raced to Chardy's ewe, and nudged it lovingly.

Well... at least he won! Bobby was not a trained racer, but his passion for ewes could move him to do anything. He was the handsome Prince Charming in the sheepy world. Timari was overflowing with pride for her sheep.

Zogdor offered his congratulations, and Timari happily thanked the good gentleman. It was an awesome race, and Eidur proved to be an admirable racer.
